Marcell Dareus Suspended

After a month or more of waiting The University of Alabama has finally heard from the NCAA on the status of Junior defensive end Marcell Dareus. As of today the NCAA has officially ruled that 6’4 306 pound defensive end ineligible for the first two games. Dareus took a trip to Miami, FL during the off season which turned out to be an agent hosted party. Alabama compliance director Mike Ward said earlier “It is important to note that Marcell never intentionally violated any NCAA rules and did not knowingly receive any benefits from an agent.” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said during his weekly show “Hey Coach” that the University of Alabama will be appealing the decision to have it reduced from one game to two. Mike Ward also went on to say that the NCAA described Dareus as “one of the most truthful student-athletes we have ever interviewed”. It is not known when the Crimson Tide may hear back from the NCAA regarding their appeal but as of tonight the first game Dareus will see playing time in will be Sep. 18th in Durham, NC versus the Duke Blue Devils.
