Title Wave?

The University of Alabama Crimson Tide have won 25 straight regular season games going back to the 2008 season and since the 2009 Sugar Bowl against Utah the Crimson Tide have not lost, reeling off 15 straight wins including the SEC Championship and BCS National Championship. To say this team is dangerous is an understatement.

With the talk of how young the defensive line and defensive backs are I thought there was no better time to really dive in to why the Crimson Tide could win back to back BCS titles for the first time ever in college football.

1. Running Backs - There may not be any team in the country with a backfield as powerful and dangerous as Alabama. Mark Ingram, the reigning Heisman trophy winner leads the 3 (or 4 or 5) headed monster in the backfield in Tuscaloosa. Ingram has size and an unbelievable ability to stay on his feet. Trent Richardson provides more than a complimentary back behind Ingram. The former 5 star has not disappointed since he stepped foot on the field. Richardson has great power, also hard to bring down with just one hit and has the speed to break it at any point. Eddie Lacy checks in at 3rd on the depth chart but this 3rd stringer would start for most college programs. Combination of Ingram and Richardson, has great size at 6’0 and great speed. If Alabama can run the ball at will, they will be hard to beat. Plus it’s not bad to have a quarterback that hasn’t lost since middle school at the helm, undefeated since his years in high school at one of the most dominate programs in the nation, South Lake Carroll, it’s an impressive win streak to say the least, 31-0 to be exact

2. Athletes - Don’t let the freshman fool you, these are some of the best athletes to ever touch the field at Bryant Denny. Inexperienced but with tremendous upside which can result in big plays given up on defense while still adjusting to the speed of the college game, especially in the SEC. Names like Dre Kirkpatrick, Kenny Bell, AJ McCarron and many others will be able to continue the Crimson Tide’s winning ways while on campus if they can grow up in a hurry. Games like Penn St., Arkansas and Florida are quickly approaching. If these Freshman can grow up fast this team could be better than the 2010 BCS Champions. Only time will tell.

3. Nick Saban - One of the best coaches in the nation. Known as a great motivator for his uncanny ability to get his teams to buy into his program 100% and believe what he says. (Shouldn’t be too hard to believe when looking at his track record). The only coach to win a BCS championship at two different universities (LSU and Alabama). A defensive genius, as long as Nick Saban is patrolling the sidelines in Tuscaloosa Alabama should have a top defense on the field. An unbelievable recruiter, since at Alabama consecutive number one recruiting classes and a top 3 finish last year. It’s hard to doubt him as a coach, and as a winner. He may be the biggest key to winning this year, knows his players like the back of his hand and won’t ask them to do anything they aren’t capable of. The headset is in good hands in Tuscaloosa with Nick Saban.
